Week 51: Red Nails

If you have been following my blog for a long time, you may know that I love wearing red nail polish. It was in fact a red polish that converted me into a polish hoarder, I mean, lover. For the red nails week, I wore Jordana Holiday Red and I topped it off with Hot Flash from the same brand. On my accent nail, I did a white nail topped with Jordana Lunar Lights and a little holly :)

Glitter: Jordana Hot Flash
Stamping plate and polish: m59 and Konad White

Week 48: Feather Manicure

Hello there!
I apologize for dropping so suddenly in your blog list... Yes, it's me and I am back :)
I am so sorry for having been gone for so long. Let me do a short summary of what has been going on and why I hadn't blogged. My winter break started a week ago and prior to that I was stressed to the max because of finals. I had 2 finals for one same subject and I think I did not get any sleep during that week but I am glad it all paid off. Also, I was adjusting to a new schedule because I was chosen as a volunteer for a hospital and getting a spot there is not that easy. In the middle of my lack of sleep and new schedule, I was going through some rough emotional/sentimental turmoil... Everything settled and I am glad to be back, I hope you understand :)

I did these nails the week before finals and I think that they sort of look like peacock feathers. Here is what I used:
Base color: Zoya Zuza
Stamping plate and polish: BM212 and Maybelline Color Show Bold Gold
Dots: WnW fasdry Teal of Fortune, Kleancolor Metallic Fuchsia

Week 1: Snow

One of the things I fell in love with when I went to Yosemite National Park a few years ago was snow. It does not snow here in Southern California but it does in the mountains. I remember people would say that each snowflake had a very intricate pattern; just like the ones in cartoons. I did not believe it until I saw it myself... Tiny snowflakes with very delicate lace-like patterns; I fell in love.
I was kindly invited by Nail Polish Canada to join their Holiday Nail Art Challenge and I gladly accepted. For week 1 the inspiration is snow everything! Here is my manicure.
I hope you like it and please do not forget to vote for me!
I hope you are having an awesome Thanksgiving weekend (I am off to write a paper, yay! - not!)
xoxo,
Carol

Week 47: Thanksgiving Manicure

It is again that time of the year; family gathering, a scrumptious dinner followed by a delicious slice of homemade pumpkin pie... Hmmm... Speaking of which, I made 2 delicious pumpkin pies today and they are the reason why I am showing you a tropical-ish manicure for Thanksgiving. You see, I opened a can of condensed milk and I was trying to get all the yummy sweetness out of the can with a rubber spatula and there was a sharp edge... I don't dare to do my nails with the cut I have, I don't want to risk getting acetone in it...
Here is my manicure for which I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lickety-Split Lime as a base and I stamped with BM215 using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Blue By!. I am wearing naked nails for Thanksgiving, it's cool, I will survive :)
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!
GOBBLE, GOBBLE!!!

Week 46: Movember Manicure

I am the worst blogger of them all; I know it and I am really sorry. I do not want you to feel like I am lazy or that I always make up excuses...
For my Movember manicure I decided to go with Neon Aqua and Mocha by Kleancolor and I topped them off with Sinful Colors Pearl Harbor. On my accent nail I drew the Movember logo as it is on the website.

Bridal/Romantic Manicure

Hello :)
In this quick post I am showing you a manicure that I wore to a formal-ish meeting. I did not want to draw too much attention to my nails so I just went with something simple. To my surprise, I received many nice comments on my nails.
I used Sinful Colors Glass Pink as a base color, I had neglected that polish for so long I needed to use it again. I stamped using BM224 and Konad White. I really liked this manicure because of the romantic/bridal feel it has :D
I hope you like it!

October: Sassy Saturday Manicure!

In case you did not know, Shelly from Shelly's Sassy Nails on Facebook hosts Sassy Saturday the first Saturday of every month. For the month of October, the theme was black and white, here is a picture of what I came up with:

I was the winner with that manicure and here is what Shelly sent me:

Thank you so much, Shelly!  I love the tiny crackles. The rose stickers are gorgeous and the brush came in handy because mine had just gone bald!

November 8 for No H8

I admit it. My manicures are many times sloppy, smeared, and everything but perfect. Does that make it okay for others to bully me or anyone else because we don't do something a certain way? NO. It is quite sad to see people hating on others at this time and age. Hate was/is/will never be acceptable under any circumstance. As a member of the nail polish community I am also saying STOP THE HATE.

I read this on Amandalandish's blog:

Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color...even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people's view of "normal" dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community. (Original post here)

I chose Zoya Carly and the stamp is from BM210 using Maybelline's Color Show Bold Gold.

Week 45: Tribal Manicure

Hello :)
I am just in time for this week's mani, finally!
I have been quite busy with life, tests, lab practicums, etc... I have a couple of posts to share with you. One is the prize I got from winning October's Sassy Saturday on Facebook over at Shelly's Sassy Nails page. The other one is my prize from Jordana for being runner up for their Halloween contest. SO FRIGGIN' EXCITED!!!!
This manicure is a tribal design that I DID NOT think of myself. I got the general idea from ProfessionalDQ's Tribal Owl Nails tutorial. Go subscribe to her insanely mental channel, you won't regret it. So, let me tell you a little story of how this manicure came about. My intention was to recreate her manicure, just using blue instead of pink. I was Skyping with my boyfriend and it was turning out okay... A little sloppy but just fine. I did the owl and I showed him; he said, "Is that a bear? Because if it isn't, it looks like one". *Facepalm, big fail, get the acetone now*. I did it without the owl and I used only one pattern. Please take into consideration that I am not that great with stripes and fine brushes.
I used Kleancolor Pastel Blue and a coat of Chunky Holo Blue Bell over it. The rest are just acrylic paints. I hope you like this and go check out Professional DQ!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Slime!

I am sorry I am late with this post... I have been under a lot of stress and almost sleepless nights because I had a lab practicum today and I was really studying my heart off. Test is over, so here is my take on slime nails. I started with a base coat and then with some green and white paint I got a minty color which I used to make drippings with. I topped the slime with NYC's Starry Silver Glitter.
I hope you had a spooky Halloween! I am glad this challenge is over and I did it :) Thank you girls for sharing your manis and coming to my page to see mine!<3 i="i">
