MASH 5 x 2 Nail Art Dotting Tools - Review and Manicure Ideas (Pic Heavy)

As a nail art lover and blogger, there are certain items that I consider essential to create both simple and more complicated nail designs. When I started blogging, the first tool I had was a dotting tool. In this post, I will share with you my experience with the MASH 5 x 2 Nail Art Dotting Tools.

This dotting tool pack from MASH comes with 5 double ended dotting tools in a convenient plastic package. On one side, the ends are of different sizes and on the other, they are all the same size.
Side 1 - Extremo 1
Side 2 - Extremo 2

Here is a picture showing you the difference between the size of the dots of each dotting tool.

Why do I consider dotting tools important?
Well, I think that whether you want to do a polka dot manicure, some flowers, animal print, or picking up a rhinestone or fimo decoration, dotting tools come in handy. I love having a wide variety of dot sizes to choose from and I think 5 dot sizes are enough.

But, what if I do not want to only do polka dots?
You don't have to! That's the beauty of this MASH 5 x 2 Nail Art Dotting Tools. You don't have to stick to dots, let your imagination lead the way... And if not, I am offering you some ideas to get that inspiration going:
Pero qué pasa si no quiero solo puntitos?
No tienes que hacer únicamente puntos! Esa es la versatilidad que ofrece éste paquete de MASH. No tienes que hacer solo puntos, déjate llevar por la imaginación... Y si no, te ofrezco ideas para levantar esa inspiración:

1) Large dotting tool end - Animal print (Yes, I did a cow hehe, but you can do leopard, zebra, giraffe, etc!)

2) Second size dot - Flowers (You can pull off a flower print any time of the year)

3) Third size dot - Hearts (Yes, you can achieve cute hearts with only 2 strokes)

4) Fourth size dot - Polka dots (Why not? Get crisp and uniform dots without using any fancy equipment)
4) Cuarto puntero - Puntos (Por qué no? Obtén puntos lindos y uniformes sin usar artículos extravagantes)

5) Fifth dot/Needle  - Dry marbling (It is easier than it seems)

Overall, I have enjoyed the MASH dotting tools. I love having the chance of doing many different things with all of them. I consider these tools a good investment. The metal ends will last you for a lifetime and just consider that you can use regular polish as well as acrylic paint to do beautiful designs.

My advice: Visit the MASH website and check these out, you won't regret it!

Week 18: Cartoon Manicure

I have had this Hello Kitty stamp for the longest and I was just looking for the "right pink" to use with it. Although the mani looked better in my mind, I am happy with the overall result. Today for some reason the polish gods were against me and my stamps were not coming very crisp, but it is HK, so I think she is still cute. I think I will soon re-do this mani, once the stress of school is over :P
The base polish is Creamy Pink by Sinful Colors and the stamping polishes are WnW Black Creme, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Silver Sweep and Konad White.

Week 17: "Earth Appreciation" Manicure

I know I am late for this week's manicure... I also know that I did not do much here, but I am really short on time now. School is getting stressful and I am trying to do my best to kick butt in my classes and also keep my blog alive. For this mani, I used Sinful Colors Happy Ending as a base color and I did the black side and dots with acrylic paint. I wanted to make this mani special and added some fimo flowers. It is my first time using fimo and I love it!
Please stay tuned, I have a special post coming up soon :)

Before my nails broke (#3)

Hi ladies!
Today it is the last mani I have to show you of the manicures I did before going back to nubbins. At this point, my nails had just been filed down and my cuticles as well as the lateral folds of my nails were in bad shape. I do not know if you watch manicure tutorials on YouTube, but I personally follow many nail gurus and one of my favorite ones is Tartofraises1. I watched THIS TUTORIAL she posted and I gave it a try. I hope you guys find the similarities and thank you for stopping by <3

Week 16: Dotticure Manicure

Hi dear readers!
I apologize for the late post, but I was hesitant to post this manicure given that it suffered from sheet marks and my cuticles are not doing so well again... Anyway, I used Neon Yellow by Kleancolor as a base and for the dots I used Kleancolor Neons: Pink, Purple and Aqua. It reminds me of a clown, haha.

Sally Hansen Rapid Red and Nail Art Stickers

Hello ladies!
Today I am showing you a simple and quick manicure that can become more special with the addition of some stickers. I bought the nail art stickers at a local dollar store and I really liked how they look on my accent nails. For this manicure, I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Rapid Red and once dry, I added the stickers. I sealed off with NYC Matte Me Crazy topcoat.
Enjoy!

Before my nails broke (#2)

Today I have for you the second manicure of my "Before my nails broke" series. To see the first manicure, click here. This is a messy manicure... I started with 2 coats of Big Spender by Essie and the ladybugs are from plate m51 from the BornPrettyStore and the flowers are from plate BM-203. I used Konad White to stamp. All I have to say is that Big Spender is one of my favorite berry colors now, and it made me extremely happy to have found it for $3.25!
Do you have a favorite berry-colored polish?

Ballet Inspired Manicure (Entry to Jen's Nail Files Contest)

Hey loves!
This post is dedicated to a manicure I did as an entry to Jen's Nail Files contest on Facebook. The twist to this contest was to submit the manicure on our off hand; meaning, right handed people submit a picture of their right hand, left handed people submit a picture of their left hand. I had to take time to do my right hand and for me, it came out okay. Then, righty does not know how to pose and I had a hard time getting an acceptable shot. So, here is the picture I submitted to the contest:
I got inspired by ballerinas, silhouettes and lace... Here are the polishes I used as well as photos of my left hand. If you are interested, this contest is open until 4/15, the link is above :)

Before my nails broke (#1)

As you know, I had to file down my nails due to some weird dryness and peeling that was happening. Before going to nubbins, I had worn this manicure, a lazy glitter mani. I started with two coats of Catch Me by Kleancolor and I topped it with two coats of Blonde Bombshell by China Glaze. If you do not have this CG glitter, visit your local Sally Beauty because I found it there for $2.00. I am loving the gold glitter!
I will have a part 2 and 3 of this 'Before my nails broke' series :)
xoxo,
Carol

Week 15: Easter Manicure

Happy Easter!
I hope you guys are enjoying your Easter Sunday. For this manicure, I was not sure if I wanted to do bunnies or little chicks. I could have sworn I had a stamp plate that had a chick, but I did not. I did a bunny instead, I am pleased to say I love it!
As a base I used 2 coats of a pink jelly polish by Freshcover (the label fell off) and a coat of Forget Now by Sinful Colors. The flowers and bunny were done with acrylic paint and a dotting tool.
I hope you enjoy!

Carol

Week 14: Striped Manicure

Hi ladies (and gents),
I had not really done a striped mani before, so this one had me thinking because I cannot really draw straight lines. After giving it some thought, and taking into consideration the fact that I had to file my nails all the way (due to lab's harsh chemicals...), I came up with this simple manicure. I apologize for my cuticles. They are horrendous, but I am pampering them so they heal...

Polishes I used:
  •  Santee - Perfect Gray
  • Finger Paints - Black Expressionism
  • Kiss Nail Art Polishes - White and Silver Glitter
  • NYC - Matte Me Crazy (I am loving this!)
